Office of Financial Aid

Refunds

Your financial aid is applied directly to your university charges at the beginning of each semester.  University charges may include tuition, fees, housing, and meal plans. If your financial aid exceeds your charges, you are issued a refund check from the Student Accounts Office.

The refund check is to help pay for other educational expenses you have such as transportation and off-campus living expenses. It is important to budget your funds so that your refund will last the entire semester. You should come to campus with funds to purchase books and supplies even if you are expecting to receive a refund check for your financial aid.

The first refund checks go in the mail the Friday before the first day of classes each semester, you should receive it by the end of the first week of class. Subsequent refunds are processed weekly throughout the semester.

If your refund is generated because of a Parent (PLUS) loan, the check is mailed to the parent unless indicated otherwise on the PLUS application.

Direct Deposit

Illinois State students are now eligible to register for direct deposit through the Student Accounts channel of the iCampus portal. Please visit Student Accounts for more information.
